As a loyal user of the vending machine in my office, and a huge fan of the fancy ones they have in European train stations, this CNN.com news story caught my eye. There are now L.A.-based herbal medicine shops that are going to be selling marijuana to patients from a vending machine. Sure, they have swipe cards (based on a prescription), finger-printing technology and a security camera, but this just seems odd to me.
Maybe it is that I haven't yet gotten used to the "medical marijuana" thing (not that I would argue it) but I think that vending machines are meant for, well, munchie delights, things you want but certainly don't need and splurges.
Oh. I see the parallel.
